New Here?

Hello and welcome to Styling Harvard! I’m Katie and I’m so happy you’re here! I started this blog at the beginning of 2014 right after my husband, Jamie, and I purchased our first home. The house was going to be a work in progress so I wanted a way to chronicle our journey in making this house our home. I’m big on anything DIY and doing things on a budget. It forces me to bring out all of my creative juices.

We got married in May 2012 and had a super fun vintage carnival themed wedding. Canuel608

When we’re not working on projects around the house, I work in Marketing and Jamie is an electrician, which comes in super handy! Our house is a 1925 Cape Cod style home on Harvard Street in good ol’ Massachusetts with our two dogs, Napolean and Monty. napolean and monty

Major renovations so far have been a complete gut of the kitchen and putting in a half bath in an empty storage room. Next up is our full bathroom downstairs. On almost a daily basis, I say to Jamie “You know what I was thinking?” and he knows that what’s to follow will be more work for him. He’s a good sport though and usually likes my ideas. From those ideas, he’s built our farmhouse dining room table, our coffee table, a farmhouse style bench for the end of our bed, and our industrial farmhouse shelving unit for the kitchen and lots of little other things. He’s the best! farmhouse dining room
When I’m not thinking about styling the house, I am thinking about planning parties! I love a good themed party. My sister and I have a part time business called Greene Galas: Event + Design Studio that we started (under a different name) in 2010. Over the years we’ve hosted or been hired to style everything from a vintage tea party baby shower to a 1950s themed Father’s Day to a vintage bowling themed surprise birthday party to a camping theme 5th birthday. My favorite party to throw is our annual Kentucky Derby party. It’s so fun to style and we always have a great time.11011940_10204471532888423_1229603117325830010_nStyling Harvard: Kentucky Derby Party Tips
Thanks for coming by to hang out! I can’t wait to get to know you! In the meantime, here’s a little bit more about me:

Family and close friends call me Kate or Keke. I love Shirley Temples and Arnold Palmers. I have a bad habit of procrastinating, especially when putting away laundry, but I do my best work under pressure. I have a weakness for chocolate (especially Snickers), Target and shopping, naturally. I’m obsessed with everything British, pineapples and flamingos, travel, antiquing, champagne, pain au chocolat, beach days, a good cuppa, typography and my husband.katie and jamie paradise island
