Styling Harvard: 2017 Holiday Home Tour

2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tourWow, this month is FLYING by! I’ve been trying to finish this post for over a week and a half and have hardly had a moment to sit down and do it. No more excuses, let’s get right to it. Our 2017 Holiday Home Tour!

This year, I kept things pretty much the same with a few minor tweaks here and there. I love the real tree we bought for our living room. The past few years, we’ve gone to this cute little nursery near our house. They have it set up so cute and we really look forward to going every year and picking out a tree on a chilly night. It’s the little things, don’t you think? Because I’ve had zero time, my plans to flock the tree never happened. It took us days to get lights and ornaments on it as it was and I couldn’t wait any longer so flocking was out. I mixed in the usual burlap with tartan plaid and buffalo check. One of my favorite Target finds ever are the mini skis. I wish they would make those again. I like to keep things along the lines of a rustic cabin/woodsy feel.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour
The small tree that was on the other side of the fireplace last year, ended up where we had it our first year in the house. We moved in the week before Christmas and weren’t even going to get a tree but my grandparent’s insisted I take their old tabletop tree. I was really glad we did because it made the house feel more like home. That tree has the same tartan plaid ribbon and some simple red and blue ornaments. A pair of skis made they way into this tree again.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour
In the other corner is my little woodland vignette. I used our antique dough bowl and filled it with faux snow, a mini tree from Dollar Tree, my giant pinecone from Home Depot and my Christmas angel which is a family heirloom. Above it are my vintage snowshoes — a very awesome (and very cheap) find at Brimfield Antique Market last year. Another tree and this adorable polar bear rounded out the decor.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

The dining room got a new tree this year. I’m OBSESSED with the $30 flocked trees from Walmart. I wanted to buy like 5 more but Jamie would probably kill me. I love naked trees and wasn’t even going to put lights on it, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I put it in my vintage olive bucket, strung some lights and called it a day. I love the simplicity of it. Across the way on the coffee station atop my Rae Dunn collection is the tree that was on our dining room table last year. Again, I kept it simple and just added some battery operated twinkle lights.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tourCSC_0851

Jamie built me a toolbox out of reclaimed wood from our house and I wanted to use it on the table this year. I filled it with a cotton stem, some greenery, my rose gold flatware and some rhinestone antlers I got on clearance at Walmart after Christmas last year. The table is all ready for our Christmas guests with a Christmas cracker at each place setting. This has been a family tradition for years and it’s my favorite!2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

Moving on to the kitchen, my little tree got moved around quite a bit this year. I found a “Christmas in London” mug last minute and decided to put the tree in there since it goes perfectly with my British themed kitchen. I added the mini wreaths on the glass cabinets along with some greenery to my copper kettle.CSC_0855 CSC_0861 CSC_0865 CSC_0877
Our full bath has touches of winter in it with some trees and a glitter reindeer print I made years ago. Simple but elegant.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

The guest room has the musical/Victorian themed tree. This is one of my favorite trees. I leave them decorated all year and just cover them with giant trash bags after Christmas. I’m thinking about taking all the ornaments off this one this year and flocking the tree because I think that would be a perfect touch. I’m just a little obsessed with flocked trees in case you couldn’t tell.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

The travel themed tree is another favorite because it’s so full of memories. We began collecting an ornament from every place we visit and a flag from every new country we go to. We are lucky to have added a new one this year as we got to jet away to Mexico just before Thanksgiving. You can read all about our trip here2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tourCSC_0722

I love the whimsy of the office tree. This is the second year the white tree has made an appearance in this room. It compliments it perfect and I love the bold colors against the white tree. I incorporated the buffalo check ribbon in here to tie everything together. If you notice, each tree has something to tie it to another tree in the house (plaids, sheet music, etc.) I’m overhauling this office come the New Year and I can’t wait to share it with you.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

Upstairs is our half bath tree. People always laugh/question me when I say I have a tree in my bathroom. It’s a New Year’s Eve themed tree with silver disco balls, matte and glitter midnight blue ornaments, mini clock faces and Auld Lang Syne sheet music that I printed out. 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour S2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

Our bedroom tree is back for year 2. We loved having it last year. The ambiance it creates at night makes the room so cozy. In here you’ll find more plaids, mini trees and the wreath over the bed (which I just love).2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

Our last tree is in our bonus room. This room has a farmhouse-like feel. Last year I had it in a giant drink bucket on top of a sled. Some furniture found a new home in there this past year so I moved the tree to the metal milk can on top of the coffee table. I love the look and wish we spent more time in here but we never have the need to use it.2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour 2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour2017 Styling Harvard holiday home tour

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for stopping by. We wish you and yours a very merry holiday season!
