Hi Guys! With the exception of the full bathroom, I am finally feeling like our house is almost complete inside. Our master bedroom is finally feeling like a real grown up bedroom. We bought new bedroom furniture recently and that sparked the big rearrange of 2017. Our old bedroom furniture was in good shape but we’d already painted it twice and it just didn’t suit our style for the space anymore. We settled on a bureau and chest that had a rustic/vintage feel to it with some slight distressing. The drawer pulls were originally an antique white and we felt that it just blended too much with the pieces so we spray painted them an antique bronze. They stand out so much better now.I had created a poster for our book wall and did the same thing up here with another quote I love. “I love her and that is the beginning and end of everything.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald
I’m a big fan of words and quotes as art. Since I design pretty much all of it and print for low costs, I don’t feel bad about swapping it out for something fresh.
Since I prefer our furniture to be less matchy matchy, we opted to get our nightstands somewhere else. I also didn’t care much for the bulkiness of the nightstand that matches the bureau and chest and wanted something a little sleeker. The nightstands are actually side tables but I’m all about repurposing things! There’s more room on my side of the bed than Jamie’s so I got a bigger table with 3 drawers and Jamie’s is a single drawer from the same line. I like how they are similar enough to the other furniture but different enough where it’s not totally matchy. We sprayed the pulls on these the same antique bronze we used on the other pieces.
One of my favorite changes is the mirror. We bought this mirror several years back from Ikea. It had a chocolate brown, almost sueded like frame. It just didn’t go in the room so I had the idea of having Jamie build out a new frame from some salvaged wood we had. This boy of mine, I tell ya, he is a keeper. He made it look EXACTLY how I had envisioned it. The wood is from the original subflooring in our half bath. It’s the same wood he built the farmhouse bench at the end of our bed with. I love that it still has the original square head nails in it. So perfect! Pretty awesome, right?! Thanks for stopping by today!!
xo,
Looks like it came right out of a magazine!
