Styling Harvard Parties: Derby Day 2020

With all the COVID related event postponements, the Kentucky Derby hit me the hardest. It’s my favorite party to throw every year because of the food, the drinks, the fun and most importantly, the great company.

For the second time this year, it’ll just be me, Jamie and my parents watching the Derby at home. We had a mini version of our party for ourselves when the held the virtual race on the original Derby Day. I made mini Derby Pies, Kentucky Hot Browns and Derby Pecans. I’ll be doing the same today, so here’s a little peak into last year’s festivities and what we’ve got going on today.

A few snaps of our little get together in May. We snacked on our Derby favorites outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Today, I made everything COVID friendly so there would be no sharing of any foods/serving utensils.

My friend Patrick, who loves the Derby as much as I do, gifted me with these official Kentucky Derby glasses last year and a custom horse stall sign as part of an inside joke.

Race time is at 7:02! Who are you putting your money on? I haven’t decided yet so I’d better get cracking! While I do that, here’s a few snaps from last year’s party.
